Planning canoe/fishing/camping trip - 1 Night - Out of Flamingo to Cape Sable - 1/30-31
Florida Outdoor Canoe - Camp - Fishing Trip
On January 30th and 31st I will be out in Flamingo doing some camping and fishing. The plan is to launch from Flamingo at 9 a.m., just after securing the overnight permit for beach camping at Cape Sable. The plan is to fish the path from the Marina to camp site, fish into the South entrance of Lake Ingrham and come out of the North end of the Lake. An optional leg can be added here, depending on time and weather, to continue North to fish the shoreline up to as far as Ponce de Leon Bay. My goal is one fish for dinner, cooked over a beach fire. I want to get back to Cape Sable with plenty of day light to set up camp, explore a little, prepare the fire, and set up for beach fishing throughout the night.
Path of Travel/Float plan, described above, in yellow, the orange line at the North end of the lake is the alternate extension.
The complete alternate North bound extension to Ponce de Leon bay. The area circled in yellow is an area I will be trying my best to make it to, but again, this will depend on many factors to be determined during the trip. Definitely a day 1 event, if any.

I have already checked the tide tables, we will be launching at dead low tide, which means as the tide starts to come in it will be great fishing, and it will help the movement in the canoes. The departure time of around 2 pm the following day offers the same tidal advantages.
I will update this thread with more info and post trip reviews as they occur.
I believe I lost my partner for this trip due to a medical issue, so if anyone has any interest in joining me, please respond here.
FYI:
From Flamingo to Cape Sable, along path through Lake Ingraham, is approximately a 18 mile paddle, one way.

Re: Planning canoe/fishing/camping trip - 1 Night - Out of Flamingo to Cape Sable - 1/30-31
lol.. I was looking on YouTube for canoe videos in Flamingo, then hoping to find one that went to Cape Sable.. I did find one video.. and .. lol.. it was about a canoe getting swamped when trying to land at the beach. They ended up flipping the boat over, dumping all their stuff, getting the canoe drug to shore.. then they went back into the water and recovered all thier gear. It was a heavily (if not over) loaded canoe.. I will have just me, a back pack, small cooler, tackle box.. right around 250-275 lbs.. including me.
I am considering a set of pontoons for the canoe or a fishing kayak though.. we'll see.
