Florida Land Based Fishing License Required
Florida residents fishing for saltwater species from the shore or from a structure fixed to shore will now need a state fishing license. The annual resident shoreline fishing license will cost $9.00, or residents can purchase for $17.00 a one-year saltwater license which covers both shoreline and watercraft-based recreational fishing. Please also see www.MyFWC.com for more specific clarifications on this new requirement and its benefits to all Florida anglers.
FWC agents around the state have continued to give warnings to shore bound anglers found without licenses, but that practice will soon end with the new law’s grace period and citations will be issued to anglers fishing from shore without a state license.
I have witnessed FWC issuing warnings over the past few days here.
